Dao Bach Long, Vietnam, Gulf of Tonkin

Updated August 19, 2024

Dao Bach Long, Vietnam, is an island between Vietnam and China in the Gulf of Tonkin. The island is 85 miles about 300 degrees, Northwest, from Hainan, China island and 73 miles Southeast of multiple points of Vietnam. It is in the Beibu Gulf, in the Gulf of Tonkin, at location: 20°07'40"N 107°43'58"E. Remeasured August 19, 2024 at 20°08'16"N 107°43'04"E. The Island is 2.05 miles long, and contains two major, man-made protected coves.

Much of the North of the island looks new, sandy, and to be developed. We see solar panels, at least one windmill, and at least two radomes on the island, with a tall navigation light and ratio towers. The large protected bay looks to have some tank traps and reclamation shapes nearby, so this could be the beginning of an island enlargement program. We do not see an airport nor a heliport.

According to Wikipedia, here, it is an offshore district of Haiphong City in Vietnam and it is a fishing island.
